Seeing Things As They Are

So you have done a boatload of personal and spiritual work. You have changed your thinking and shifted your life, but you are still having the same old results over and over. Why is this still happening?

I have been heavily influenced by the works of Emma Curtis Hopkins, especially her book, Bible Interpretations, and today I wanted to share my notes from Lesson 49: Astronomers tell us, due to the speed of light and an exorbitant distance, the stars we see in the night sky are the lights of planets long since vanished. Yet today, we experience their twinkling as if it they were still here. Similarly, although there is only One Infinite Truth, we can only see things through the optics of this Truth if we are grounded in the Principles of Life. Otherwise, we are taking in the world and its events through the lens of stories we make up for ourselves. Perhaps you know of a friend who once was heavy in grief. And then there was a great healing! By and by, their mind may again feel the shades of the memory of how their heart used to grieve. We all will ride on the waves of past fears or loves. These memories may lie dormant for a time but, like the star, their effect will surface to be felt today.

Material things, our human experiences, are the results of our thinking. Not some of the time; all of the time! This isn’t to say our thoughts are good or bad. It just IS the way “It” works.

Have you ever tried on a pair of Polaroid glasses and notice how the world through these lenses seems so much more appealing? The thing is, the world didn’t change, just the lens. Our thoughts act as lenses. They shadow and filter the world around us, and we then see what we believe. So, if I build my understanding on the Highest Principles of logic, that will be my experience. Ideas are living things. I started watching The Underground Railroad. I honour the pain and suffering of all people, but I am not going to help the world by spending time focused on darkness. I had to stop watching this horror of our past. I want my feet grounded in the world of Truth, supporting me. I want to know I stand on the shoulders of mystics like Emma Curtis Hopkins, Emerson, Ernest Holmes and Plotinus. I want to stay strong on the side of true power, health and loving kindness.

The point is, do not lose faith! Yes, we have all done a lot of personal work and sometimes bad things still happen. Why? The shadow of our past rears its ugly head from long ago because it requires its final clearing. We may need to do this over and over again until the story can no longer stick in our mind. This it is up to each and every one of us.

Stop often, look up and get a bigger idea. Remember the “One Truth”.

This is the way: Follow the Light. Hold fast to the understanding of a Profound Presence; a Wisdom that encompasses all of Life, here and now. These are the preferred thought seeds; the starlight for our tomorrows.

SO YOU THINK YOU’RE A RIVERITE… : A Pledge Odyssey to be Undertaken by Jill Pledges due by Monday, September 6th

Get in your pledge to support Jill in her upcoming creative fitness challenge to raise money and awareness for The Centre. What does the challenge include? In One Day (using Strava and video as a record of the odyssey) Jill will:

  1. Race up 3 flights of stairs in Campbell River (Pinecrest Rd., Campbell River City Hall and Canyonview Trail).

  2. Paddle in the shape of a heart in a local lake

  3. Bike the distance of Stories Beach (All of these as fast as humanly possible!)

Why pledge: What The Centre offers is not like a self-help book or any other programs. We are a registered charity. So, we are able, through events, workshops, courses, support groups etc, to provide opportunities and tools that are immediately useful in defining and leaning into your uplifted and inspired life, no matter your financial situation, belief system, gender, ethnicity, or any other descriptor. And we also support other charities in addition to the work we do in-house. Everybody wins!

TRANSFORM Your Experience… ASK A PRACTITIONER Dear Practitioner: Sometimes I feel so different from other people, and even from my family. What’s wrong with me?”

Answer: (We have moved Ask a Practitioner to a video format. Please check out our video with this week’s response on the Centre’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter feeds). CLICK HERE to link to the video on Facebook. (COMING SOON: All our Ask A Practitioner videos are moving onto our Youtube channel! TRANSFORM Your Experience… SERVICE:

Volunteer: We are always in need of volunteers for this and that. The Parking Lot Clean-up Bee was a great success! Thanks to all the folks who came out to help. All the weeds are gone, the beds are planted and everything is so much tidier and refreshed. The weather co-operated, and everyone enjoyed fruit and cold beverages after. We have an auction coming up and we’re looking for handmade local art/crafts for that. (Do you know any local artists that might like to contribute? Let us know!) We are also looking for small-ish items that can be used to fill up an assorted gift basket, so if you have any items you would be willing to donate, please connect with us, as soon as possible. It’s all for a great cause and every donation helps not only the Centre, but other charities we support as well. We’re planning lots more activities, too, so please let us know if you’d like to participate. (If you have any special skills you think might be of use, we’d love to hear about them!). Simply contact the office (admin@thecentrecr.org). We’ll point you in the right direction.

Bright Ideas: How about some fun activity ideas? Got any of those that you’d like to share? Once again, our office is the best first point of contact: (admin@thecentrecr.org)

Get Social: We invite you to follow us on social media. Go ahead and share and comment on any of our posts that you enjoy, too! #TheCentreCR, #GetCentred and #UpliftLife.

(For any donation of $25 or more, you will be issued a tax receipt, but every bit of generosity helps, no matter the amount or the form it comes in).
