We are excited to share the news about an upcoming Human Library event we are co-hosting with the Campbell River Library and the Immigrant Welcome Centre .
A Human Library is a gathering of living “Books” (people) who are eager to share their stories in a welcoming and safe space, in order to foster engaging dialogue and personal connections with interested “Readers.” This unconventional library experience aims to dissolve societal barriers, amplify diverse voices, and confront preconceptions.
Let’s collectively embrace the Human Library’s motto: “Unjudge someone!”
Are you interested in volunteering to share your story as a "Book", or do you know someone else who might be?
Would you like to help take care of the "Books" and help to run the event as a "Librarian"?
We are hosting a virtual information session for people interested in learning more about what it means to be a volunteer for this event . At it, we will answer questions around training, time commitment, and the event in general. One-on-one interviews will then be set up afterwards for folks who are keen to move forward.
The event itself will be held on June 8th, but we are recruiting volunteers now in order to provide ample time for training and prep.
There is no obligation to commit as a Book at the session – it is simply an opportunity to learn more and ask questions.
See you Monday evening!
