Significant? Me?

I want you to know that you are significant.

What happens inside you when I say that? Do you believe me? Or, is there a “Yeah, but…” that arises in you, followed by all the reasons that significance might be true for somebody else, but not you?

Lately, I have been talking about how we come to know we matter. Some of us have had people in our lives who helped us to learn that. Others… well, that has not been our experience. If, at some point, we were taught that we don't matter, can we actually be sure the people who taught us that were right about us? I don’t think so.

So, this week I am having a little talk with that voice inside me that says, "You need to be different before you can really show up". I now defy that limiting voice because I know its message is not the Truth. "Whatever!!" I dismiss. "I want you to bring yourself. As you are. I mean it!"
