Who Believes in Me?

“Every day you are capable of expressing the greater possibilities which are your divine inheritance; so that you are busy expressing good and have no time for any fear thoughts.

Know that you alone are the door-keeper to your mind.”

~ Ernest Holmes

Who Believes in ME? I want to know.

Today’s column is inspired by a blog post from Seth Godin, and by the movie, “CODA”. In the movie, Ruby is the youngest daughter and sister in a deaf family. She is a “C.O.D.A.” (child of deaf adults).

(Attention! Spoiler alert for what is ahead, if you haven’t seen the movie yet.)

The family has always ‘needed’ Ruby to be their voice and, through the drama of the movie, we see her role as it is played out in various ways. In her duty, there is a sense that Ruby and her passions are being lost; overridden by the needs of her family. Also, unbeknownst to the family, they too are being held back by their dependance.

Ruby wants to sing, but her family doesn’t understand. Nearing the end of the movie, as the family begins to step into their personal power, they are finally able to give Ruby the love and space to step into hers. There is a pinnacle moment when Ruby is auditioning at the Berkley College of Music, singing Joni Mitchell’s song, “Both Sides Now”. Every time I watch this particular scene in the movie, I cry.

This latest time, I sat with my tears and asked, “What are the tears telling me?” I got quiet within, listened to my heart, and it came to me: Ruby’s family was there watching her music audition, and they are DEAF! They couldn’t hear what she was doing. It was a pure, selfless act on their part. They believed in her and just wanted to support her.

I realized that my tears came from the depths of love I saw expressed in that moment… the purest form of love… “I SEE YOU!! I am here for you”.

Science of Mind visionary, Ernest Holmes, wrote, “The Circle of Love is complete. It comprehends all, includes all, and binds all together with cords of Everlasting Unity. I cannot depart from Its Presence nor wander from Its care. My Love is complete within me.

The Love of Life binds me to Itself, and will not let me go. I shall make a home for you, O my wonderful Love, and we shall journey through life hand in hand. I shall sit in your Presence and learn the wondrous things You will tell me; For You are the One Life.

Love sits within me.”

My ministry is inspired by this idea. Everyone needs to know they are really seen; that it is safe to be the truest form of themselves. I want everyone to live from their joy centre… to feel loved and heard, to feel connected with others, connected with The Divine and most of all, connected with themselves.

You are a Divine Idea!

Holmes has more wisdom to share about this:

“Every day you are capable of expressing the greater possibilities which are your divine inheritance; so that you are busy expressing good and have no time for any fear thoughts. Know that you alone are the door-keeper to your mind. You have the power to say what shall enter there. You are sending out only thoughts of peace, love and joy. The passages of your mind are open only to the inflow and the outflow of good. You are sensitive only to good, dwelling in the higher altitudes of consciousness, understanding Life in Its spiritual purpose, experiencing exhilaration, vitalization, and exaltation.”

I want you to know that I believe in you. The passions of your heart are mine to support. I listen and hear your call. I hear when you are unhappy and I see what makes you shine. I want you to feel that shine always.

And yet, the deeper lesson, is that we are never alone because we are never separated from the Infinite Giving Life Force. We are always seen. (Whether by other people or not). Back in the world of the movie: Ruby’s audition was a success, she went off to Berkley with her family’s blessings, and everyone grew. Her family became empowered in their community in their own unique way. Ruby let go of thinking her family needed her to the point where they couldn’t survive without her, that she was their only support, and she, instead, listened to the call of her inner voice. She stepped into her dream of exploring a life of music.

Ernest Holmes had wisdom to share that fits with this as well. He said, “Free yourself forever from the thought that the Universal Presence may be pleased by a life of sacrifice, that the world is any better because of your misery, or that righteousness is more perfectly expressed through poverty than abundance. Know that the greater abundance of every good thing which you are bringing out in your life, the more perfectly you are satisfying the Divine Urge within you. ANYTHING YOU CAN DREAM OF is not too great for you to undertake, if it makes the world a better place and brings happiness and good into your life.”

Who believes in me? I do. I know I am much more than the limiting stories I may sometimes tell myself, or those told by anyone else. As an expression of Divine Intelligence, I make Life complete by truly being me. This work of self discovery is the most important work I can do.

What thoughts stir in you as a result of this message today? I look forward to hearing from you.You are a Divine Idea!
